If the master suite needs a fresh new look, these small-scale updates are the way to go. With just a few minor changes, you can make your bedroom an oasis.

This guide will introduce you to five easy ways to update your bedroom decor without spending too much time or money. No need to do all of them at once.

You can pick and choose the ones you like and then focus on one or two at a time for a long period of time.

Here are some tips for decorating your bedroom without spending an arm and a leg:

  • Don’t spend too much time shopping or looking for inspiration if you’re only making small changes.
  • Go with white as boarders, duvets, pillows, bed sheets, drapes and soft furnishings.
  • Spread things out. Adding items to your room every couple of days will help you keep track of how everything matches each other.
  • If there is a place in your home where you like the flooring, buy it there and use it in your bedroom.
  • Sometimes the answer to “what’s wrong with my bedroom” is nothing; you just need to change the stuff on top of it. If this is the case, then you can avoid making expensive changes altogether and just change throw pillows for example.
  • If you change your mind about the look of your bedroom, all you have to do is change it back.
  • Don’t worry too much about getting everything perfect. You can always add to it and make changes over time.
  • Decorating doesn’t have to be costly or even time consuming. If you’re thinking of decorating but can’t seem to get around to it, then try picking small things and doing them one at a time instead.
  • Here are five ways to make small and inexpensive changes that can drastically impact the appearance of your bedroom.
  • Use a blackboard to write down all the things you want to do when you first start decorating your bedroom: -The bed sheet and duvet -Throw pillows -You could also write down where all your favourite items are in the room, such as pictures and photos, artwork, lamps, ottomans etc.
  • You will then want to get started by cleaning out your wardrobe. You can use the clothes that you don’t wear anymore, or you can give them to someone else. Get rid of anything that doesn’t fit you any more, or that doesn’t match your decor.
  • As you clean out your wardrobe, try redecorating the bedroom around what is left in it. If you have some things left over, then make a plan of how to use those items.
  • Decide on the flooring design and colours for the bedroom and maybe even the bathroom.
  • You can then start looking around your home and in stores to see what lamps would match the room, or even the brand you’re using for blankets and sheets.
  • You could also start checking out your other rooms, such as kitchen and living room to see if you can use any of their furniture in your bedroom design.
  • You will want to check out some other types of furniture such as dressers, ottomans, headboards and bedside cabinets.
  • You could also get some magazines that cater for the bedroom and start looking at bedding and cushions. This is a great way to start seeing how different furniture styles look in your bedroom.
  • If you have an accent wall, then get rid of all the stuff you don’t want on that wall, or use decorations to make it more interesting.
  • If you want to switch out your bed sheets, drapes or pillows every so often, then start doing that as well.
  • You can’t go wrong with white as the base colour, but you can use other colours to decorate if you want to.
  • You could also look for tutorials for new bedding styles on YouTube and design your own duvet cover.
  • Some people like to paint their walls a lighter colour when they change their bed sheets or pillows. You can also do this with ceiling fans and adding things above them.
